I am conducting the 3rd interview for the study tomorrow, and have 2 more scheduled for February time. I would still like 10+ more participants for the study, so with 1/3 secured am feeling positive that people are hearing about the study (any additional sharing is encouraged, nevertheless!)
The use of visual methods in these interviews is proving invaluable. We have begun the interviews differently each time, depending on what the participant would prefer. The choice is given at the beginning of the interview whether they would like to use the photographs to lead the discussion, or as a compliment to a discussion lead by myself and the participant. Each time the findings have been (in my opinion) only enhanced by the photographs used, and we have discussed a theme, trend of emotions or reasoning behind actions that photographs display in depth better than words.
A poignant moment from one interview - that one photograph displaying isolation and loneliness, also represented solace and tranquillity for the participant. It is an interesting thought that perhaps a caring role could provide both...
